Our First Christmas Together!

Brian was definetly like a child this Christmas. He would beg me a million times a day to open gifts. He was excited to see if he got motorcycle parts. He kept asking for this one package that was Oreo cookies covered in white chocolate, his favorite. He thought the gift was motorcycle parts. So one day, after being annoyed by him, I decided to let him open it. Boy was he dissapointed! hahaha! We decided to adopt my family tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve. The next day, when Brian got home from work, we opened the rest and enjoyed a lazy day. We spoiled each other rotten! For Christmas we got a cat. Isn't she soooo cute?? She is a siamese tortie cat. Her nose and paws are all multicolored brown and pink. We decided to name her Phanta.

Christmas in Idaho!

Brian has to work on Christmas day so we went to Idaho the weekend before. We celebrated with Brian's family by having gift exchanges and celebrating the December birthdays. This year the birthday boys were given their own cake and, as you can see, forks so they could dig in and enjoy. We had a big dinner with several memebers of Brian's extended family. Brian's mom made each of her grandchildren's names and his dad made the frames. Don't they look incredible? We also found out that weekend that Brian's sister Tyra was expecting in July!! Yeah, the pressure for having a baby is off of me and Brian!! Thanks Tyra and Cody and Congratulations!

We did this in Robin's studio (Brian and my's home away from home when in Idaho). There sure are a lot of us and a lot of children to keep happy. We got some great shots. Here we are!!

Sleep Study

Okay I had to add this to my blog because the picture is so freakin' awesome!! I was having breathing problems and so I got sent for a sleep study. It was weird! Brian was able to stay with me for a little while and then asked to leave. I got hooked up to all these monitors, the cameras were pointed out and I had to fill out all kinds of paperwork. I asked for the heat to get turned down to 60 because I like it cold when I sleep. Well, it was probably the worst night of sleep I've ever had. After struggling to fall asleep forever, I asked the nurse to come in. I asked her to turn the heat down - it was set at 76!! Who sleeps in 76 degree heat?? Not me. I asked for a fan to block out noise. And somehow I adjusted to the extremely hard bed. Finally I fell asleep. Turns out I don't have any breathing problems when sleeping. I was happy the small amount of sleep I had was enough because I REALLY didn't want to go back.

Portland

Brian and I went to Portland, Oregon this weekend so he could meet my Grandma Wahlen. Our's was the first wedding she was unable to attend due to health problems. So we went to visit her instead. We had lots of fun with my aunts and uncles there, went to a school fair and the Saturday's Market. It was raining and lots of people didn't come set up their booths but who doesn't love Portland's Saturday market??

Halloween = candy

We are on our ward's activity committee so we spent Halloween at the trunk or treat. It was fun to see all the costumes. When we got home several more kids came to our house. Brian ran to the store for more candy but we ended up not needing it. Yummy...more for us! Stacey and Livy stopped by. Livy LOVED dressing up. Isn't she so cute in her Piglet costume? Stacey said she would want to put it on first thing in the morning and wear it all day. Every time Livy would come to my house she always wanted two things - the stuffed giraffe and my cell phone. Happy Halloween!

Motorcycle Accident...

We got home from our honeymoon on a Sunday. That Monday I witnessed a car accident and gave first aid. The next day, Tuesday, I again saw a car accident and gave first aid. On Wednesday I saw a motorcycle accident and when helping got the man's blood on me. When the ambulance came, they took over and I stood back, sobbing, splattered with blood. A police officer arrived and came up to me. He asked me if I was involved in the accident - was I okay. I could only shake my head no. He looked at me like he was trying to figure me out. He then asked me if I knew someone who rode a motorcycle. I said yes, my husband. When I was cleaned up and done with the police I called Brian and told him what happened. I told him I knew something was going to happen and I begged him to be careful. The very next day, Thursday, the call came - Brian had been in a motorcycle accident. I knew it was coming so I let work know and headed out to meet up with him. We spent all day at a dentist office, an oral surgeon's and the ER. He had shattered his mandibular jaw and lost his four bottom front teeth. The dentist pushed the teeth back in and wired them together to try and save his jaw. The oral surgeon made sure nothing else was wrong and the ER let us know he had torn the AC joint in one of his shoulders. It was a long day and only two weeks after we got married. We have some really disgusting pictures of his mouth but here is a family friendly one after he was feeling better. It's going to be a long recovery road and several surgeries but at least he is still here.

Honeymoon! Hubba-Hubba

We spent three days in Banff, Alberta. It was beautiful! We were surrounded by breathtaking mountains, wildlife and tons to do. It was Brian's birthday while on our Honeymoon and I ordered a cake from a local bakery to be delivered to the hotel. We could walk almost everywhere from our hotel, went to most of the shops and tried several of the local restaurants. Brian said the best hamburger he ever had was in Banff. Go Alberta Beef!! We rode on the gondola while there and had professional massages. That was Brian's first massage and hehehe, I got him hooked! After Banff we took two days to get to Idaho for our Open House there. Then we returned to our cute, little house in Utah and back to real life.

Wedding Day!

Our wedding was wonderful and fantastic! The day before was rainy and cold. When we were setting up for the reception my dad asked my mom for plan B due to the weather. My mom's response was that it was going to be beautiful and she didn't need a plan B. She was right on! We couldn't have asked for a better day. The sky was a clear and a beautiful blue, the weather was warm with the perfect breeze and not a rain cloud in sight. Brian and his family went to Denny's for breakfast and were far too kind to Denny's. They ended up late to the temple because getting their breakfast took so long - and it all came cold and not completely cooked. Poor Morris'! After the ceremony Brian's sister arranged for us to go on a horse drawn carriage ride. We were just suppose to go around the temple but he took us all over Cardston. Our families thought we weren't coming back. The reception was perfect! We had it at the Kinsman Park in Coaldale which sits on the Birds of Prey reserve. WONDERFUL! It was so fun to see so many long time friends, be surrounded by family and finally be married. Our photographer was Brian's sister Robin. She is amazing! You should check out her website - http://www.robinspencerphotos.com/ I don't know why the pictures are all different sizes but - ENJOY!!

Minnesota

We headed to Minneapolis this weekend for a family reunion and Joey's baptism. It was the first time Brian met all of my family. Stacey and Olivia flew with us and everyone but Brett was there. We played in the Ehlert's pool, celebrated Joey's 8th birthday and had a ton of fun as a family. One night we bought several 2 litres of Coke and Mentos for an experiment. We went in the little forest behind the Ehlert's house and watched Jeremy put the Mentos in the Coke. The spray of pop was disappointing, it went no where near as high as was forcasted, but that lead to a late night conversation of why which was very entertaining!

Sandberg Family Reunion

Every other year my dad's entire family gets together for a reunion. This year we all met up just outside of Yellowstone National Park. For some reason I have no pictures of this event. Strange. Brian and I actually never went inside the park! Amy and Barry flew to Salt Lake and we rented two cars and drove up to Yellowstone. Kenny organized a white water rafting trip - AWESOME! My first time and I would totally go again, no thought involved. Just a block away from our hotel we rented a lodge type building where we had all our activities and meals. I have included pictures of my family but Greg is missing. He was there, just avoiding the camera I'm sure. If anyone reading this has more Sandberg Family Reunion pictures, send them my way. I'd love to have some. That is why you see none of my extended family....I have no pictures of them!

Las Vegas Trip

We spent the weekend in Las Vegas with our friends Kriss and Sarah, Ike and Kristy. We drove with Kriss and Sarah and met up with Ike and Kristy, who live there. It was fun. We saw the water show and the cool flower display. We went outside of Vegas and rode the rollercoaster, Desperado. It was AWESOME! Then again I am biased - I LOVE rollercoasters! :) We went and rode the Big Shot. First of all it's a million miles above Las Vegas. You get strapped in, with no shoes and shot a gazillion more feet into the air. I've never been more afraid in my life! But I would totally do it again because it was INCREDIBLE!! It was a great get-a-way.

Engagement!

One Wednesday I had a big meeting at work. It was hard for me to concentrate because I knew I was leaving that afternoon to meet Brian's family. I made it through, met up with Brian and headed to the airport. Once we got to the airport I knew we were not going to Idaho. Brian tried to hide it from me that well, that's pretty hard when you have to show your boarding pass through security. That's when I found out we were headed to San Francisco! Brian had arranged for a friend to pick us up in a fancy car. Brian was really excited. I don't even remember the type of car! This friend drove us to the Golden Gate Bridge and Brian acted like he was going to propose. But then he said - "okay, let's go". So we got dropped off at our hotel and got checked in. Our hotel was right on the beach - Rockaway Beach. It was my favorite beach from my mission. By this time it was pitch black but we headed to the beach anyways. Now Brian didn't know why this was my favorite beach until we got there. When the tide comes in, there is no beach. Only the waves crashing against the rocks with huge sprays of water. He had bought a seashell and made it into a ring box. His plan was to have me "find" the shell on the beach. When we got there the beach was getting smaller and smaller so he had to switch plans. There was an Italian restaurant right there overlooking the crashing waves. He asked the server for a quiet place to sit. We ordered food and by this time I honestly thought he had maybe given up at asking me to marry him because nothing was going his way. When the waiter come with our food Brian asked him to take a picture and that's when he asked me. It was simple and perfect and I think he was really glad it was over. I planned on teasing him when he asked but when it happend all I could say was YES!! The pictures are of the real event!
