Computer Woes

I am currently posting using my work computer. Today, our computer wouldn't work. Well, the lights said it was working, that it was on and that it was charging. So I turned it over to take the battery out, to see if that would help and found that the computer was melting. Yes, I said melting. There is a hole in the bottom of our computer and I think it is exactly where the hard drive is. That is not good, not good at all. All my books are on there, all our pictures, everything!!

Brian calls to see what to do about the warranty. They tell us we don't have a warranty and that we bought it six months before we really bought it. They keep transferring Brian from one department to another. We can't find the actual store receipt, but we do have the credit card receipt, but they tell us that isn't good enough. Brian starts to get upset (who blames him) and asks to talk to a supervisor. The lady says she doesn't have a supervisor and explains that she is a case manager. Brian says I want to talk to whoever your boss is. She says she doesn't have a boss. Brian says I want to talk to whoever is over you, in charge of you. She says, "Oh you mean a team lead?" Brian says yes to which she responds, they don't normally talk on the phone and tries to explain the team leads job. Brian says, well this time the team lead will speak on the phone. She goes to see if he is available and is gone for a long time. Finally, the team lead answers and introduces himself as the supervisor. (I thought she didn't have a supervisor??) Brian explains the melting situation once again and the supervisor says, what do you mean melting? Brian explains again. He says, why didn't you just say it's melting. You don't even have to have a warranty for that. And gets us all set up to send our computer away to get looked at. Seriously, what is wrong with this world today??? Is there really no such thing as customer service anymore unless you get rude and mean??

I am missing the computer and worried if anything was lost. So I can't post pictures or write. When is the trama in my life ever going to end??

New Year's Resolution September and October

For September Brian and I decided to try a smaller, more lunchy place. We choose wrong. At least for our eating preferences. We went to a place called Lunaberry. It serves homemade yogurt and crepes. Brian and I like crepes so we gave it a try. We wouldn't go back. But that's just us. I also learned, I don't like homemade yogurt.

For October, we went to the Red Butte Cafe up on Foothill. As soon as you walk in, you see the desserts....lots of homemade cheesecakes. This restaurant to me was swanky inside but the prices were so great. I got veggie tacos, Brian got enchildas, Tim got fajitas and Crystal soup and salad. I thought the food was great, although when we go again, I'm totally getting what Brian had and he wants what Tim got. The food is Southwest style but you can also find things like a French Dip on the menu. Very tasty, good service and wonderful prices!

We already have the restaurants picked out for November and December...we just need time to go! I seriously recommend this New Year's resolution to everyone!

On the car front...

So I saw my car, Jadie for the last time today. It was sad. I'll admit it, I cried. I think it's mostly because no longer having that car makes me leave a huge part of my life behind. I bought that car in college, drove to Canada several times, visited friends, numerous jobs, a few tickets, fun with friends. Yeah, so I'm crazy.

As for the car on Craigs list...yeah it was totally a scam. Once I told her I fly for free and would like to come to Texas to see the car, I've never heard back from her. Wonder what exactly she could do with my full name and full address?? Don't worry about me though, I was too smart to give her any info.

Plus, we BOUGHT A CAR!!! It a 2007 Dodge Caliber. I would post a picture but, I can't (see blog named "computer woes.") It only has 40,000 miles and is in great shape. We were able to get an extended warranty. It has super tinted windows in the back that are hard to get use to. When I back up in the dark, I'm terrified I'm going to hit something. We searched and searched and searched to find it. I wish I could have gotten more money for my car so we wouldn't have a car payment, but that was next to impossible. I'm happy though and glad the search is over. Give me a call and I'll take you for a ride. I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!!

What a super fun weekend!! Mom, Dad and Greg came into town and Jeremy and Janie came up from Provo. Everyone got here Thursday and left on Monday. We had so much fun together and the weekend absolutely flew by. We had plans to visit with cousins but I don't know where the time went.

We ate turkey dinner on Saturday including Tim, Crystal and Gavin, Greg went on a hot date while here, we got Mom and Dad's shoes (finally) in Bountiful, poor Janie got sick and we did lots of catching up.

Dad, Brian and Greg replaced all the lights in our house!! It's so pretty now. They are all matching and are much brighter. Plus, we got rid of the ugly, useless fan in the kitchen. And now that fall has finally come to stay, they took the air conditioners out of the windows.

It was a great turkey weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians!!

Crazy bill!!

I got a statement from my medical insurance the other day for some stuff I had done in August. The total I needed to pay to my doctor/hospital was $7,300.00!!! I was like, what did they do, replace my internal organs when I wasn't looking?? The original charge was for just barely under $40,000.00! So after bawling and freaking out I called the hospital to figure out the charge. Crazy thing was, my insurance had already paid $22,000 on it. The hospital called it a gross error (yeah, I'd say so) and changed the charge to just over $100.00. I think my part to pay will be like $10.00. I can afford that!

To Believe or Not to Believe

So I have been spending some time lately car shopping. I hate shopping. Shopping in any version. But alas, the free rental mini-van (yep, lucky me!) will not last forever. So I got tired of calling dealerships and decided to waste some time on Craiglist. I found a 2004 Nissan Altima, fully loaded, for $3850. It only has 19,000 miles on it too. So I email the owner to see if it's really true. I get an email back that her husband bought it, and then left for Iraq. He was killed in Iraq 4 months ago. It's been in the garage the entire time because she doesn't have a driver's license. However, even though I looked at cars in Salt Lake City, the car is in Dallas. Then, I tried to look it up again on Craigslist, and the listing was gone. Hmmm.... too good to be true? What do you think? Do you believe or not believe??
