Welcome Robert Allen Sandberg!!

Isn't he SO cute!!
Janie and Jeremy welcomed their son, Robert, into their family on Saturday, February 13th at 5:35 pm. He weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

CoNgRaTs Jeremy and Janie!!

Janie is doing great! But baby Robert arrived two weeks early due to some problems with his main blood vein and is in the NICU. Right before the vein splits off to circulate blood to everything below his heart, there might be a block. Babies have veins they use before they are born that slowly die off about a week after birth, when the "permanent" veins take over. That vein is working great but it's blocking the doctors from a good view of the "permanent" vein they are concerned about. So right now it's a waiting game to see what happens as the one vein dies off and the other takes over. It may be that it fixes itself (or isn't even a problem at all) or Robert may have to have surgery. Right now he is doing great, everything is functioning the way it should and they are monitoring his blood pressure in both his upper and lower extremities. That will be the first sign that the block is affecting blood circulation. So send a few prayers Robert's way! We sure are excited to have him in our family!

Valentine's Day dinner

For Valentine's day a big group of our friends got together for dinner. We all brought different parts for the meal, all the kids had pizza and fun at a different house and we just enjoyed each other's company. We ate good food, laughed, visited, caught up on each other's lives and realized we need to do this more often! It was a wonderful way to spend the evening!

Brian and I decided that the tradition we are going to have for Valentine's is to buy a new game every year. We wanted to do something special but neither of us is big into the "showing your spouse you love them just because it's February 14th." We'd rather show each other every day! So this year we bought Settlers of Catan. We have been wanting the game forever. Now we can have fun memories playing the game. What kind of traditions do you have?

Happy Valentine's Day!!

This is why I told Brian to NOT get me anything for Valentines...

I think that Valentine's day is the new Halloween. Holy Schmoly...I got the mother-load! This does not include the donut and root beer float I ate during the party. (And I'm being honest, that's all I ate during the entire party!) My students brought me so much stuff! Aren't they so sweet?
And among the many cute notes and cards I got - here is one of them. It says, "Dear Mrs. Morris, You are the nicest teacher in 5th grade. See you when we come back on track. Love, Brayden. Happy Valentine's Day. UR a LIFESAVER."

And recently the only red marking pen I had left (the rest had run out of ink) got stolen. Seriously. It's not a lie. It didn't fall on the floor or get lost in a drawer - it was stolen. So I went to the store to buy a new one, but everyone was out of the kind that I LoVe. So I bought the pen in pink, blue and purple inks instead. Obviously my students noticed and asked - so one student brought me an entire bucket FiLLeD with red pens! So cute!

So if you need a sugar/chocolate fix - come on over! PLeAsE! You can eat all you want. Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh yeah, it was my birthday...

I've come to a place in life, over the last several years, where I just don't care about my birthday. I have no problem accepting my age, I don't feel old, honestly, I'm not sure what it is.

I have always taken my birthday off in times past, but this year I worked. As a teacher, I figured I had better save that precious day off in case I really needed it. I did not tell my students it was my birthday. It was a student's birthday the exact same day and I didn't want to take anything away from her. But the very next day, some of my students from last year stopped by with birthday cards and sang me happy birthday. I have no idea how they remembered. And from there everyone found out. It's funny how the "news" has slowly trickled through 5th grade. I'm still getting birthday cards from my students and it's been a week and a half!

So after work, Brian took me to dinner. I LOVE breakfast for dinner so we went to my favorite waffle place. Then we went to a movie, my choice and no complaints from Bri. It was lovely and relaxing. Brian was sosososo excited for me to open my presents. He had been asking me for days if I wanted to open them. He got me a new cookbook and a series of books I had really been wanting. My favorite part of my birthday though - all the phone calls from my family. It's wonderful to talk with everyone in one day.

It was a good day. Happy birthday to me!
