Playing with Dad

Today was a holiday for Daddy, so he spent some fun times with Gideon. He took a bunch of pictures to document their time together while I happily enjoyed a nap. Here are my favorites (there were a lot of pictures.) Brian said he took so many because he misses his little guy. Cute!

Johnny Jump-Up

Our next door neighbor got Gideon this Johnny jump-up. We pulled it out the other day and Gideon loved it when we would make him jump. We only have doorways upstairs and in the basement, not the main level. We don't put him in it a lot but I like to use it when I'm putting away laundry or cleaning the bathroom. Well, today, he finally started to figure out what to do. I can't wait to compare this video when he jumps around like crazy!

First Swing

For Easter, we got Gideon this swing. We finally put it up! It's in the perfect spot in our backyard. Hanging from a big tree that provides day long shade.

He absolutely LOVES it! He giggled with delight and had huge smiles. We stayed outside and went swinging for a long time.

Here is a video of his first ride. I love, love, love it! I may be talking a little too loud but I was excited! So many firsts when you finally have a baby. This swing will be well enjoyed this summer.

Crazy Sleeper

Gideon has become one wiggly worm! He can roll all over the place. And I mean, all over the place. While on his belly, he rotates around in circles. And he gets up on all fours and goes backwards.

All this new movement has caused a problem. He can't stay in one place while sleeping. I'm not sure if he does all this movement while sleeping, or once he wakes up. But everyday I find him in crazy positions. I tried putting a heavy blanket around him to stop it. Then I bought a wedge pillow because he would roll onto his tummy but not have enough room to roll back to his back. Then he would wake up howling about every 40 minutes. Neither of us were happy. I mean, he is a great sleeper at night. Usually 8 to 10 hours. This 40 minute thing was awful. Thank goodness the wedge pillow totally worked!

In this picture, his head should be at the bottom of the picture, with his feet under the blankets.
I took this picture around 4:00am. I needed to document his wiggles!

Gideon and I go for a walk everyday. Before the temperature hit in the 100's, we actually went twice a day. It's nice to get out, get fresh air and exercise. Gideon would cry and cover his eyes in the bright sun. Who blames him? But often it cut our walks short. I mean, my only other option was to cover him with the visor thingy. Then he couldn't see anything and he didn't like that either.

I looked online for sunglasses and the cheapest I could find was $15 plus shipping. No thanks. Then the other day at the grocery store I found these cute glasses for only $5.00! And they are even polarized with an velcro band. Gideon doesn't even try to pull them off. He just puts his little feet up and enjoys the view.

We took Daddy walking with us the other day. They looked so cute in their sunglasses, I had to take some pictures.

Playing with Quinn

We had the Fowler's over for another barbeque. Honestly, it's what we do all summer long. It's fun to be outside, have fun, eat good food and enjoy good company. Quinn loves Gideon. She talks to him so cute and loves to make him smile and giggle. It's so fun to watch. On this particular night, Gideon wasn't happy in his stroller (his usual outside spot), so we threw out some blankets and laid him down. Quinn took over and watched him all night. She played her little heart out with him. So adorable!

I got to take Gideon to work with me for a few days during testing. I thought it would be so fun to have him all day long. Well, it was fun but seriously, I hardly got any work done. I had to sit right next to him or he would cry, cry, cry. Then I would sit next to him and all he wanted to do was have whatever I was working on. At least he took great naps while there and I LOVED being with him all day. Here he is playing with a cute hat we bought him for this winter.

My first Mother's Day!

Mother's day really does feel different when one is finally a mother! On Saturday, Brian took me shopping for something I've really been wanting forever - a bike! I keep forgetting and forgetting and forgetting to take pictures of it. I also got a bike trailer for Gideon. However, he's too little for it and the infant insert is almost the same price as the trailer itself, so next spring Gideon and I will be able to go out for rides together. For now, I sometimes go after I put him to bed.

When we went to the store, I had to figure out what size bike I needed. Nothing like that to help remind me how short I really am! Then we started looking at last year's models. Seriously, I don't need this year and I love saving money. I also told Brian I really didn't care what color it was, I would love anything. And I was serious. So the guy is looking stuff up on the computer and I look at a couple of bikes. Then he tells us he has a brand new bike from two years ago, would I be interested? Oh yes, yes I am. He brings it out and I was in love right away. I honestly didn't care about color until I saw this bike. I loved the color, it was the right size and the price was awesome! I even rode the bike home from the store.

Here is Gideon and I on Mother's day. This is going to be a yearly tradition for us!

Tummy Time

I've been so busy with surviving being a mommy and working full time, I didn't notice that Gideon can hold his head up while on his tummy. Okay, really, I knew he was doing it. I'm sure he's been doing it for awhile. I just realized I hadn't documented it. He's growing too fast. Somebody stop him! On a side note, isn't he just so cute?? I'm pretty sure those big blue eyes are here to stay!
