More Bonus Mommy Points

Gideon is obviously figuring out how things fit together and quite often finds himself stuck. I was, once again, doing homework, Gideon started to cry and this is how I found him...

This gate is to stop him from getting into the part of the kitchen that has all the cat stuff. We can't put the gate all the way down because then the cat's can't get through. After watching the cat's go underneath several times, I guess Gideon decided to try it out. I did of course save him, after taking a picture.

Bonus Mommy Points

I am the best mom EVER! I seriously deserve an award. Gideon was happily playing while I was working on my homework, when suddenly he started crying. This is what I found...

Gideon had somehow gotten himself stuck in his car tower. Before rescuing him, I snapped this picture. Best mom ever!

Box on Head

It was one of those crazy weeks where everything was going wrong and I literally had more to do than I had time for. Saturday morning rolled around and we seriously had no food for breakfast. That's what happens when mommy's have to go back to college, while working, being a mom and wife and housekeeper. So I made Brian go buy us a super healthy, fast food breakfast.

Gideon didn't care much for the french toast sticks. But he did enjoy the box they came in! And don't worry. I finally went grocery shopping and our kitchen is well stocked once again.

Sneaky and Stuck

Gideon has figured out how to go up the stairs. Which is awesome, don't get me wrong. However, he still doesn't get gravity and the fact he can fall down the stairs. So after the fall happening too many times for my liking, we started putting the baskets in front of the stairs. Can you see the small problem in the picture?

It seriously didn't take Gideon more than a week to discover how to get around them. So we have moved on to some seriously "how to go down the stairs" training instead.

Meanwhile, if I'm doing dishes or something, I still put the baskets there to give me a head start. Is it horrible I think it's hilarious every time he gets stuck? Silly boy!

Broken Head

Poor buddy. It was snowing really, really heavy so Gideon and I were watching the big snowflakes out the living room window. He was pointing and jabbering and we were having so much fun. Then he decided to dive off the side of the couch. And I couldn't catch him he went so fast. We have end tables with a top and bottom shelf. He hit the bottom shelf head first and the sound was horrible. He didn't cry at first. He didn't breathe either.

I tried really hard not to freak out. I was all alone. He started breathing. There was blood everywhere. Stupid head wounds. I couldn't tell how bad it was at first. Things started to settle down, including me. It didn't look too bad, not too deep. Then Gideon's eyes rolled back in his head and he went limp. I really freaked out then. I prayed for help. I didn't know what to do. I needed to hold him but I had to put him in his car seat. I wrapped his head in a towel so blood wouldn't get in his eyes. And we took off on the horrible, terrible roads and traffic. It felt like it took hours to get there. He never woke up. I wanted to barf. And scream. I tried to get my crying under control. I just wanted him to wake up.

I walked up to the check in desk and told the lady Gideon hit his head and passed out. She asked specifically what happened, told me to wait and went in the back. A nurse came right out and took us back. She asked what happened and started taking his vitals. Gideon finally woke up and he was chatty and smiling and back to normal. I started to cry again from relief. We got put in a room. A PA came in, looked him over and asked what happened. She said his skull was not broken and the fact he was back to normal so quickly was the best sign for head injuries. She said a doctor would be with us soon. The doctor came in and asked me what happened. I asked her if they were checking for child abuse. She told me yes. I think that's awesome because I'd rather be checked than have a child go abused. By this time Gideon was back to his flirty little self. The bleeding stopped and a huge goose egg had formed. He was happy to just lay on the bed and chew on his screwdriver. The doctor glued the cut closed, told me what to watch for and sent us home. Back to normal. And never playing on the couch again.

Cornmeal

Gideon needs some serious entertainment while I make dinner. He has decided that wrapping himself around my legs and screaming bloody murder the entire time is how things will go. I'm not a fan.

He will stop if I pick him up, but making dinner with one arm just doesn't work. I tried having him stand on a stool, but he kept falling off. So today I pulled out a big tupperware and some cornmeal.

He loved it and stayed very busy. Dinner was done in record time.

For some reason I never saw this ending coming. Thank goodness dinner was done so quick because it gave me time to clean up the cornmeal off the floor.  I'd do it again though because there was no screaming or crying from either one of us. Yeah cornmeal!!

Cream Cheese

You know how Gideon loves to get food out of the fridge to nibble on? Today, I found him eating strawberry cream cheese. He would dip his fingers in...

lick his fingers clean and start again. I promise, we really do feed him. This kid gets three meals a day and at least two snacks. And that doesn't count the food he gets out of the fridge.

Later that night after a bath, we were playing with Mr. Potato head. Gideon thought it was hilarious when I would put it on so we tried it on him.

Ehlerts in Utah

The Ehlerts came for their annual ski trip to Utah. They came really early this year so they could go before Ben entered the MTC. We were still in Canada when they first arrived. So we only got to go visit once before they left. Gideon loved all the ski poles. He played with them for almost an hour.

This year they bought a GoPro camera and wore it around while skiing. Here they are watching their videos. It was really cool!
