Hanging with Dad

Gideon and Brian spent some time together today. Many pictures took place.

Mokie does NOT like Gideon. Or any small people actually. So this picture is amazing. Mokie is not lashing out at, hissing at, or running for life from Gideon. It actually looks like Mokie is enjoying Gideon giving her a little pet.

Daddy and Gideon bonding time. I'm not sure what they did, just wanted to share a few of the pictures.

A glimpse into a summer day

We are playing, playing, playing and doing some more playing this summer!

I think I'm wearing this little guy out!

I can't keep this kid out of the pool! I love it! He jumps right in, splashes, pours water out and from container to container, flips around in circles and gets soaking wet. And even though he takes his shoes off in two milliseconds, he doesn't when it comes to the pool. He must get in as soon as possible.

When Brian came in from outside he found this little grasshopper friend on his shoulder. Didn't he get a great picture of it?

Dancing Man

I've been trying to get a video of my dancing man but he always sees me and stops. Here is a tiny view of his moves. I wish I could get a better video because it's so dang cute!

We headed off to Idaho for a four day weekend. This is how our trip started. We left an hour past Gideon's nap time on purpose. He didn't sleep long but long enough. I brought homework to do but forgot to charge the laptop. Awesome!

Gideon loved this little car. Ethan loved pushing him in it!

Gideon also played in the sprinkler with Emily and Abby. We all thought it was a great idea and got all ready.

Then we realized it was COLD so no one got in the water. In fact, I packed Gideon one pair of pants because Utah had been in the 100's for days. I figured Idaho would be 10 to 15 degrees different. Oh no. It was 30 to 40 degrees different!!

So they had fun playing on the picnic table. Gideon scared us all with his love of standing right on the edge.

Gideon tried to steal everyone's electronics. Here is was trying out a kindle.

He continued his obsession of trying to fit into small cars so he could ride in them. He did figure out how to sit on this one and push with his feet.

Gideon slept horrible at night. He wouldn't take good naps. So we would drive just to get him to sleep and then sit in the car when we arrived at our destination. This is right before family pictures.

Gideon didn't want to play with toys. He wanted to watch a movie in his car. So Emily, Cassie, and Abby joined him. So cute, aren't they?

We had dinner with our friends, Brandon and Emily, at Brandon's parents house. This is how not quite two year olds play with legos.  Too cute not to have a video of.

We spent lots of time with family, went on a Gideon free date, went to a food pantry store and bought yummy stuff (and I'm totally going back next time to buy the perfect cheese to make poutine!!), Brian went camping with Joel and the nephews, and we visited with friends. It was a great weekend!

Family Photos!

While in Idaho, we got Morris family photos! Robin, Brian's sister, always does such an AMAZING job. Here are all my favorites.

Gideon was a MAJOR distraction during the whole family photo. He did get everyone laughing but no one was ever looking at the camera. And he really sat just like this. The total and complete center of attention!

Love us some summer!

Long days spent together...we LOVE summer!!

Today we went to the zoo with our friends, McKade and Mary. Here are the boys looking at some monkeys.
Watching the seals was fun. We found this great spot inside where the seals would come right up to the window. The boys loved it and us mommies thought it was pretty awesome too.

After a lovely nap, we played outside. Gideon pushes his cart up and down the driveway.

He fills this bucket with water and then sits at his picnic table with it. Then he dumps it out and starts all over again.
At bedtime Gideon likes to read a book to himself while I read to him outloud. Note the book is upside down!

Tonight Daddy made it home just in time to read with us.

And one of Gideon's favorite ways to read...on his tummy.

So big!

Gideon wants to be big so much. He loves to try and do what all the bigger kids do. And now he spends lots of his day walking around in mommy and daddy's shoes.

His current favorite is my flip flops.

Which often turn crooked and twist around, but this boy doesn't give up.

He also loves my laptop. Not such a good thing. He knows how to open it all by himself but has yet to figure out the password.

I don't let him play with it, but I did long enough today to take a picture. He has flipped my screen upside down and to the side. Not so fun.

I have been trying forever to get a video of Gideon "reading" but he always sees me and stops reading. Today I got a tiny snippet of what it's like. I wish I could get the real thing, but I'm happy I at least got this. Adorable!

Daddy's shirt

Brian has an (annoying) habit of leaving his clothes from the day(s) before on a chair in our room. Gideon is over his sock love and instead brings me one of his daddy's shirts every morning to wear over his clothes.
He gets really frustrated when he can't use his hands because the shirt is in the way.

So we have to roll the sleeves up and make his shoulders all bulky. But it gives his hands perfect access.

Now if my little teeny, tiny could only grow taller and not trip over the bottom of the shirt.

My little reader

Have I mentioned (too many times now) how much I LOVE this little reading boy of mine??

He spends lot of his day reading outloud. It's just jibberish, but it's totally adorable

He will also pick up any magazine or grocery list or mail, and read it. I just love it!

My favorite part is that he always has to sit in a special place to read or he lays on his tummy with his feet in the air.

It makes me wonder if he will read early. So I have already started introducing the names of letters and their sounds. Don't worry, just in a fun way. Or part of a simple conversation. Since he loves to read so much, I figure it can't hurt!

Father's Day

For Father's Day this year, I found a cute idea on Pinterest. So my friend, Mary, and I got together to make these cakes for our hubbies. You make them with pop and small candy bars. We bought our hubbies favorites and created away. I had to include all the pictures because of the looks on Gideon's face!

We also spent some time playing outside. Gideon currently loves his Daddy's helmet. At least someone wears it, right?
 Happy Father's Day, Daddy!!!!
