Childhood

This is one of my new favorite pictures. Mismatched jammies - cruising on his car - cowboy hat - necklaces on - huge smile on his face. Could childhood get any better? So many things to love all at once and all together. Just that small moment in time that captures his personality perfectly. His zest for a million things all at once. And his happiness at figuring it all out.

Hot

This is one hot kiddo. Sometimes Sundays are looooong days. Gideon and I needed out of the house, so we headed to the school playground for some fun. It was hot, hot, hot outside. Gideon ran and ran and ran around. He occasionally went down the slide. And he finally found the pit full of wood chips were we spent the next hour or so. He dumped out the water in his cup and would fill it up, pour it out, fill it up, pour it out....over and over and over. It's the longest I've ever seen him stay at anything. And I just got to sit. It was wonderful. I'm excited to get our back yard finished and get this kid a sandbox!

Binky

Gideon didn't like a binky as a baby. He would tolerate it as long as someone held it in. But as soon as the force was gone, he spit the binky out. Currently he enjoys finding them and sucking on them. Or chewing on them.
It doesn't last long, but it sure is funny.

Dinosaur Pillow

One of my crafty-to-do things was to make Gideon a cute dinosaur pillow case. I have had the material forever, but just not the time. So during his nap today, I skipped my homework, and got right to work. I had it all finished just as he woke up.

He even clapped for me and said, "Yeah, momma!"

Reading with Daddy

Have you heard of the books, Pete the Cat? I LOVE them. I have really enjoyed reading them in Kindergarten. They each have a fun song that is sung over and over again in the story. The words repeat so it's easy to enjoy. So I ordered a couple extras and brought them home for Gideon. He also LOVES them. He will carry the book around wherever he goes, he sings the songs, and he wants it to be read to him over and over and over again. In fact, these books were the first ones he let us read all the way from beginning to end. We love Pete the Cat!!! You should too!

Summer Quirks

Here are a few more of the funny things Gideon loves to do over and over again this summer.

He likes to "hook" an old hose to a tank. He can't really attach it, but that doesn't stop him from trying.
Open wide and close your eyes. Gideon moved right as I got this shot. He loves to drink from the sprinkler. He gets water all over him and I'm not sure much in his mouth, but he runs towards the sprinkler in delight every time I turn it on.

And he fills up his bucket with water over and over and over again, dumping the water wherever he feels like it. Usually, he helps me by dumping it on the plants. Then he sets the bucket down and cheers for helping me! Cute kid! And always so very, very busy.

Daddy's socks

This picture was too funny not to share. Here is Gideon all loaded up for our 3 mile walk. Toys, treats, water, and Daddy's socks. It was hilarious. I asked him to get in the stroller and he ran upstairs. I thought we was being naughty but instead I found him grabbing this pair of socks and trying to put them on. So I helped and off we went. He left them on the entire 3 miles. Love this crazy kid of mine!

Favorite Pastime

Once again I'm posting about Gideon's love of reading. I know. You are probably sick of it. But I don't think I will ever be. It's just so dang cute.

Today we were out for a bike ride. The bike trailer had all sorts of toys and treats. But this is what my little guy was doing the entire time.

I had to stop and take a picture. He didn't even look up. He just kept on jabbering away, telling me the story over and over again.

Table Manners

For a long time Gideon refused to eat unless he was given a utensil. I miss those days. Now it's all about the hands. Even yogurt, people. This isn't the greatest picture, but in one hand is a small container of yogurt. The other hand contains a large glob of yogurt, which has spread all over the face, the arm, the shirt, the floor... And he loves it. And he asks for another container. But this time I make him sit in his chair where I can better contain the mess.

P.S. I didn't give him the first container. He has learned how to open the fridge and help himself! Ahhhhhhh!!!!!

A little Saturday fun!

Sometimes staying at home gets SO boring!! So today I convinced Brian to take Gideon and I to a pet store in North Salt Lake. Several of my friends told me about it and how fun it is. So we gave it a try.

Gideon LOVED it! All the animals were down low in big glass cages so he could see all of them easily. He would run from cage to cage squealing with delight and talking to the animals. Here he is meeting some ferrets.

And all sorts of birds. There were also bunnies and hamsters like this too.

We took a picture of this pink bird for my mom, who loves pink. What do you think, Mom? Would you like him for your birthday this year? :)

This bird kept sticking his head out of the cage and squawking. It scared Gideon so bad the first time. After that, he kept telling the bird "no, no!"

When he saw the turtles, he sat right down and chatted away with them. He didn't leave this place for a loooooong time. I'd say it was totally worth the drive. It was awesome to see how excited he was for every animal!

That night we headed out to Stansbury Park to hang with the Fowlers. Gideon kept hugging this post for some odd reason.

The adults ate pizza and visited, while the kids rode bikes, played on the cool playground, and ran around on the tennis court. The weather and company were perfect!

4th of July

For the 4th of July we went to a barbeque at Crystal's mom's house. It was awesome!

Rex and Gideon weren't too sure what to think of each other.

Gideon kept getting in and out of this toy all by himself!

Fireworks!! I must admit, Gideon and I went home to bed and missed the fireworks. When it's bedtime, it's bedtime at our house. I'm sure he'll love fireworks even more when he can stay awake and not turn into a screaming bear.

Summer Lovin'

Have I mentioned yet how much we are loving summer yet?? We seriously live outside and love it.

I got this pool at the store for $7.00. Everything else you see, I got off Craig's list for less than $100 - all together! It makes spending time outside even more fun. Love me a good deal.

Gideon has recently discovered the hose and that water comes out of it. He even knows how to turn the water on and off. That doesn't come in handy when I'm watering the garden and he keeps playing with the knob.

My garden is getting so big! We have already been enjoying peas and beans. The first thing we do when we head outside in the morning is find peas and beans to eat. Gideon runs right over to help and munches away.

Gideon loves to steal the sprinkler. I often have to search to find it when I need it to water at night. I've found it in some pretty funny places!

Gideon loves to peer out these windows.

Until he sees me noticing him. Then he quickly shuts them.

One wheeled item is not enough. He sits on one and pushes himself around with his feet. All while holding onto and dragging the lawnmower. Silly kid!

My little cool dude - who has learned to take his own shirt off. Awesome...not. We play outside until Daddy comes home, then Gideon runs to his car to play in there. Yeah for summer!
