Chillin' in the grocery cart

Gideon does not enjoy sitting in grocery carts. I think it's because he has to face me and can't see much. So a long time ago I started putting the diaper bag on one side and putting him in sideways. He sits up against the diaper bag, stretches out his little feet, and typically doesn't make a fuss.

He also begs and pleads to eat the fruit and veggies I buy. I have to put them in the cart last on purpose so I don't have to hear him scream through the whole store. He can have some if they have one price. But if they are priced by weight, I figure I shouldn't teach him to steal.

New Bedtime Habit

I can put Gideon in bed awake and he will go to sleep on his own. It can sometimes take as long as 1/2 hour for him to fall asleep. He passes the time talking and singing. However, the other day he kept saying "uh-oh" and a few minutes later started crying really loud. Since that is not his usual, I went to check on him and found this.

He had thrown everything out of his crib and was then desperate to get his blankies back. I totally laughed, fix his crib, and he was asleep in minutes. Silly kid!

Running in the Rain

It's been raining on and off all day today. Gideon was getting a little stir crazy. So we came out to play anyways. At first he was content to push the mower up and down the carport but then he got brave enough to go into the rain. Which I was completely fine with. Ever since that wasp sting, this boy no longer likes water. It was hilarious after that. It took me awhile to remember to grab the camera so these videos aren't the best of what happened. But I couldn't narrow it down to just one video. So stinkin' cute!

Discovery Gateway

Mary and I were looking for something fun to do with our boys one Friday night. I found  great coupon for the Discovery Gateway museum. So off we headed. Our boys were interested in very different things, so we crossed paths but mostly followed our own kiddos around. Gideon loved playing with the balls that are the first thing when you walk in. The only way I got him to see there was more to play with is to take him, kicking and screaming, to the water. After that, he explored away.
And I'm not exaggerating when I show this next pictures. Gideon spent most of his time driving this car...
And this car...an
 And this other car...

Then he found this other car where there were hats to wear...

And this fun car to drive around. He went back and forth, back and forth, back and forth just driving away.

Then he discovered a piano where he played to his heart's content. It was adorable! He was singing, and playing and in heaven.

And finally he discovered this construction sight had more than a car to ride around on. There were cool bricks he could send down a tunnel, or lift up on a crane. It was a perfect way to spend a Friday night with our little guys.

Little Kitty

Gideon has discovered that he can climb into the living room window and sit on the cat seat that's there. He thinks it's the greatest thing ever!

I can tell he's there because of the enormous amount of giggling coming from the curtains. He often chases a cat away to get up there. He had fallen off once but got right back on. Such a silly kid!

Loving Sloan

My sister Stacey and her family moved back to Utah!! Yeah!! Last time she lived here Mallory was a newborn. Now she is a first grader! We went over to help them unload the truck. Gideon was so excited to see his cousins. He would sit right down and pat his lap to let us know he wanted to hold Sloan. He is adorable with babies. He squishes down and talks to them in a high pitched voice. I love that Gideon gets to grow up with cousins around!!

Laundry Hamper

We are home and Gideon is up to his normal cuteness. He has discovered that our clothes hamper can be quite fun.
He sits there and sings, jabbers, wiggles, and just has a great time. Why did I ever buy this kid toys?

Sara and Cameron's Wedding

Sara and Cameron Taylor walking out of the Temple. It was such a great day!

Brian randomly got this perfect picture. He said that before the picture Sara was making funny faces and had her head turned the opposite way. Just as the camera clicked she turned and smiled. I just love how happy they are!

Me and my little Linus walking up the Temple steps.

Gideon kept hanging on the fence jabbering to someone or something. I took several shots. This is by far my favorite. What an adorable look, with his body all scrunchy.

And just checking out the world. Such a sweet kid.

And of course, my little boy found the one and only small patch of dirt around.

And he is protesting when someone dare hold him longer than five seconds. Although Uncle Greg was having fun with him.

And the millisecond he was put down, he was off and running full tilt.

It was a wonderful day! Got got to spend lots of time with our family and Kenny's family, who are awesome! It was amazing to be part of the wedding and I can't wait to get to know Cameron more!!

Minnesota Reunion - Day Seven and Eight

Can you tell we were getting really tired and worn out by this point?? The pictures totally slowed down. At the lodge, Gideon hardly slept at all. It was exhausting. And the lodge was the opposite of baby proof. Gideon was constantly into everything.

We spent the morning decorating for the wedding. By this point, every time we got in the car Gideon would fall right to sleep. He had a lot of catching up to do though. After decorating, we headed to Wendy's to visit and swim. He fell asleep on the drive and did not wake up. Not when we took him out of the car, not walking to the house, not laying him down, not with everyone swimming just a few feet away. He was officially exhausted...finally!

And after the wedding the next day, we hung out with Jeremy and Janie in their hotel room. Gideon loved playing with Jeremy.

And us ladies visited. It was a great trip but I was so, so glad to be heading home to my Gideon proof house and my own routine and hopefully a sleeping child.

Minnesota Reunion - Day Six

Here are pictures of the lodge we enjoyed for the week:

And we were off for Minneapolis...
This trip Gideon enjoyed the toys he got. In this picture, he is not watching a movie. Just using it to put his guys on.

In our hotel room, some cousins came to visit and play.

Gideon enjoyed playing in the suitcase. Thank goodness he just liked to sit in there and not throw everything out.
At the Ehlerts, he had to have this gun which was pretty much the same size as him.

Minnesota Reunion - Day Five

The babies (Carl and Sloan who I don't have a picture of - boo!) were the love of many cousins. They would lay on the floor and hand them toys, make them giggle, and just enjoy them.

We found a stash of games which we brought out and enjoyed.

The visiting continued.

We headed to the famous turtle races in the nearby town. It was taking too long and Gideon was ready for a nap so we grabbed a treat and headed back. Gideon had his first ice cream cone. Chocolate ice cream of course.

Doesn't this picture say it all?

Then it was back in the lake for more water fun. Xander loved cruising around in this little boat.

Brian, Gideon, Amy, Abby, and Madelyn.

There was also much paddle boarding. This is Rebekah with Ella, and Jennie.

Gideon was really interested in this boat. What he really wanted was the oar. Brian didn't realize that and Gideon was trying with all his might to get the oar. He fell right out and into the lake. Thank goodness for life jackets.

Brian trying out a paddle board.

Gideon wanted to try but we didn't want him on there alone. So Jennie got on too.

Minnesota Reunion - Day Four

The morning starts with more sword fighting.

Even Grandpa loved joining the fights. It was fun to hear all the giggling!

Outside was a fun fire pit. We of course enjoyed smores around that fire. And, happily, Gideon did not try to get in the fire.
