Bedtime and Blankies

I've mentioned before how much this kiddo LOVES his blankies. Tonight, when we were getting ready for bed, Gideon grabbed every single blanket from his bed and took them to his chair. He then declared he was ready for bed.

He did not sleep in the chair but he did, however, sit still for the entire bedtime prayer tonight!!! Which in all honesty, lasts about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes.

Daddy's boots

We were getting ready to go outside for work/daycare this morning. I asked Gideon to put his shoes on (which he can do most of the time.) I returned from starting the car and found this. Not quite the shoes I was thinking. Haha!! He had also moved the stroller into the way of the door, which made getting back inside quite tricky. Gideon was determined we were going walking, and not to daycare. Poor kiddo. He would most definitely rather stay home with his momma all day.

Gideon LOVES to cook with me. Today he went into our storage room and came up with a cookie mix we got for Christmas. He was so excited, gave me the package, and said, "Momma! Cook!" I couldn't say no to that. Or let's be honest, the cookies either.

All he really wanted to do was eat the dough though. Who blames him? I'm just trying to raise him correctly, after all! When Brian came to get this picture, Gideon thought he was going to take the spoon away - he is saying "No" and even giving him that pointing no-no finger. That's serious dedication to dough eating going on around here.

Fancy Hair

I got a fancy new hair style. Well, I think it's fancy because I've never had more than just a trim done, but this time, I let my bestie, Mary, have all control.

I have wanted to put pink underlights in my hair for a long time. I've just never done it. Mary was so excited when I told her and we set up a girl's night. Mary found the perfect color and got right to work. My hair was soon full of foils. Very fun! We waited the appropriate time and my hair didn't take the color very well. Awesome Mary then redid the color and foils and we both fell asleep on her couch waiting for time to tick by. Again, my hair hardly took the color. In Mary's words, it looked like I used kool-aid on my hair!

The next night we continued our girl's night. Mary put in some clarifier to get the color out, but it wouldn't come out. Of course. Even after two applications! So, Mary covered up the color by weaving blonde and brown highlights into my hair. Fancy! I thought it would up hard to upkeep something like that. I've learned otherwise now and I may have become addicted. Then she chopped and chopped and chopped my hair. It's so short now and even has an A-line look to it. But, wow, has the curl returned and it feels so healthy. And I feel super pretty and so fancy!!

Little Piano Man

This kid is seriously hilarious. At church this Sunday, our lateness made it so we couldn't sit in the Sacrament room. There were WAY too many people. Gideon had a little too much freedom in the sitting area, so Brian took him for a walk. He was very happy to find a piano to play.

Look at him singing and playing! Isn't that the best face, ever!

And I'm so glad Brian took a video. It captures his personality perfectly. My favorite part is when Gideon realizes Brian is taking a video. Hilarious!

The Zoo and Gideon the photographer

We headed out to the zoo today. We have season passes and hadn't been yet this arctic winter. I've heard the animals are extra active in the winter, so we had to check it out. Let me tell you, it's pure fact!! We were not disappointed.

In fact, I don't think I can ever go to the zoo again in the summer. It's hot, super crowded, it's hard to see the animals, and they usually aren't doing much. They are all over the place in the winter. There is barely anyone there. Serious. No waiting. Walk right up to every window. Gideon was even running back and forth following the otter in the picture above and I didn't have to worry because no one else was even there. He thought that was the coolest ever!

These Eagles look amazing. I had to take a picture. I haven't seen them awake or sitting out to be seen, ever!

Later that night, Gideon took a turn as photographer with our camera. Here are my favorite shots:

Donut Love!

Today I shared a donut I got with Gideon. Well, I gave him the entire thing. To say he loved it would be an understatement. I could hear him "mmmm" and "nom nom" while we drove home. He actually ate the entire donut, although he started with the icing side first. He was covered in icing and sprinkles so I had to take some pictures. Sometimes being two and covered in chocolate icing is just too adorable to not to remember.

My little sous chef

I couldn't decide what picture to not post. I love them all! Gideon and I cook every night. He can even be throwing a fit, and when I ask him if he wants to cook, he picks himself right up, and is so exited.

Tonight we were making french toast. With buttermilk syrup! Have you ever had buttermilk syrup?? Oh. My. Amazingness.

I have no idea where I got the tiny whisk that Gideon is using, but I'm so thankful for it! It's his favorite tool to use and is just his size. I love having a little helper!

New Daddy

The Fowlers came to play this weekend. Gideon wanted Tim to pick him up all night and even crawled in his lap. It was really funny!

New Playroom

My first goal of the new year was to get all the toys (aka: mess) out of our one and only living room. Our guest room is used, seriously, a couple times a year so we decided there was no point to having one. We packed it all out (there wasn't much) and brought all the toy stuff downstairs. This is what you see when you look down the stairs.

Here is the big toy shelf and Gideon already hard at work playing. We had put the tent and tunnel away when we traveled home after Christmas and didn't put them back up until today. There was no room for them! He was SO excited to see them again!

This is a view from the door. All we did was move everything done. Maybe someday I'll have time and money to decorate/make it look cute!

I just kept cleaning after that. This is my little vacuum buddy. He loves to take the attachments off. I loved the look on his face in this picture!
