Taylorsville Days

This year we decided to try out Taylorsville Days. To get awesome firework seats, we got there four hours early. Brian took Gideon on a bunch of rides to help pass the time. The headed right over to the cars for Gideon to drive.

The carousel is another favorite. Daddy liked that he got to ride too!

Brian was proud Gideon got a cute "date" for this car ride!

Gideon loved how this ride went up and down, all while he got to turn the wheel.

This picture is cool because of the sunlight and check out the children in the top right hand corner!

Our little family hanging out. We went with both awesome Fowler families and had a great time.

The Fowlers picked up a ton of glow sticks which all the kiddos had fun with.

Brian kept switching up the way the glow sticks were on Gideon. They both loved it!!

This sword kept Gideon VERY entertained while we waited for the fireworks to start.

He actually sat still the ENTIRE 45 minute show! He would move positions but was completely glued to the fireworks.

He fell asleep in less than a minute in the car! It took forever to get home so next year we are totally going to walk there. And save up some money so we can eat some carnie food!!

Spoiled by Daddy

Today we were originally going to be in Idaho for the third Spring wedding, but it got postponed. Brian decided to still take the day off so he can Gideon hung out while I went to work in the morning. Brian got them up, dressed, and off to the toy store right away. He was excited to be the one who got to buy Gideon something. I guess I'm the one who has all the fun buying at our house! Heck, he can go grocery shopping and errand running any time he likes!!

Gideon got to "ride" in a Mario Cart and he picked out his first transformer as his toy! I love that they make a toddler version. One button opens and closes the transformer easy as can be. Perfect for this little cutie.

Nap Snuggles

As I've mentioned before, this kid is hard to get to sleep. Lately though, he has been falling asleep pretty quick. Today, he even fell asleep in my arms. And while I shouldn't be happy because I don't want it to be a habit, you can't blame me for loving every second of this moment. Why are children so much cuter when they are sleeping??

My Little Scientist

Gideon's newest "experiment" is to look at everything really close with his binoculars. He goes all over the house and looks at everything that captures his interest. I can often hear him say, "Oh. Yep, me look really close right here." I seriously can't get enough of this stage!!!!

Ward Swim Party

Tonight was our ward swim party at the city pool. There were a billion other people there but I managed to keep them all out of my pictures! Gideon was so excited. He loves "wimming." I was sitting by a friend and Gideon was by the pool with Brian. All the sudden Gideon just jumped in the pool. I almost had a heart attack and then I saw one of our good friends holding his arms out, waiting for Gideon to jump to him. It took a little while for my pounding heart to slow down.

I love swimming suits with a built in life jacket. If we put an actual life jacket on him, he'd have it off in three seconds since he'd have access to the zipper. And he loves the independence he can have with it. As in, we don't always have to be holding him.

He's been asking for goggles since he's seen other kids wearing them. Tonight was the first time he got to try his own goggles out. He is seriously the cutest little nerd wearing them!! He wore them almost the entire 2 hour swim time.

Little Swordsman

Gideon was running all over the house fighting bad guys. And I mean, all over the house. Yelling, striking, giggling, and all over hilariousness. When I asked him to show me how he could fight, this is what I got. This kid cracks me up!

A Carnival Fundraiser

We went to an incredible fundraiser for one of my past Kindergarten families. Their son only has half a heart and is currently on the transplant list. So when I got invited to this fundraiser, we totally HAD to go!

One part of the parking lot was closed off and filled with vehicles. A police car, several construction trucks, a big rig truck, etc. Gideon loved climbing into each one and trying it out.

In the firetruck he even got to try on the fire helmet. He had to hold it with his hands because his neck wasn't strong enough to hold the helmet on his own.

This was a bean bag game. Every time Gideon would throw a bean bag in the whole, he had to look to see where it went!

He loved this golf game. I love how relaxed all the games were. It didn't matter that he didn't stand at the correct line, or took an extra turn, he just got to play. We went at the perfect time too, hardly any lines. Everyone was eating lunch.

Every time he succeeded at something, he would hold his hand up and cheer!

This game, he stood right next to the hole, but was still so proud of himself for making it in.

Plinko was by far his most favorite. Watching that ball fall was amazing. When we were ready to go we used ALL our remaining tickets on this game.

There were tons of carnival games, a dunk tank, bouncy houses, an obstacle course, face painting, a photo booth, a food cart with pizza, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches, frozen yogurt, and so much more. As well as booths to get popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy. Inside was a huge silent auction, a store, and a bake sale.

I contributed to the bake sale and posted pictures to remember how cute they turned out! My cake bites/truffles, mn'm blonde brownies, and poppy seed bread went like crazy!! Good to remember for another time. The triple mint chocolate cookies were to die for. In fact, I bought some at the bake sale because I really wanted some more! Here's all the yummies that I made!

Lovely bruise

Not sure what's better. The bruise on my cheek or my awesome facial expression? Anyways, I had a crown that was a tiny bit loose. So loose, I didn't notice. But of course I got a teensy cavity there. The dentist had to play around with my crown and I got a good old freezing needle. Between those two things I got this bruise. No picture truly does it justice. The best part is I didn't even notice it. It was the next day, at work, when my students kept telling me my face was dirty that I went to check it out. It never hurt. Just hanging out there. Getting me lots of questions and strange looks. And since I'm behind in blogging, it's been a week and a half since this picture was taken and that bruise is going no where and is still bright purple. Strange.

My contribution to Young Women's Camp

I baked my little heart out this week and LOVED it. Well, not the dishes part of baking, but the rest was so fun! I'm the 1st counselor in Young Women's and couldn't attend camp because I still had to work. However, I tried to contribute the best I could before it started. So I offered to do the food for camp. And then I also got asked to help for a bake sale fundraiser going on the exact same week. The above picture is a result of too many late nights! I totally missed the mixing bowl!

Here are the tuck in treats I did. Every day one of these was left on each girl's pillow. The camp was a Stake camp and the theme was based around the Wizard of Oz. So I found quotes from the movie that I could match a treat to. Then I found General Authority quotes that also matched. I LOVED the way they turned out! (I put individual pictures at the bottom in case you can't read them from this picture.)

Then the treats I found quotes from the movie, just to add a little fun!

I guess pudding cups were a favorite last year, so I had to include them this year. It took me a long time to find a quote that could fit. But it works pretty good, don't you think??

The sack was full of Ding Dongs, a no brainer snack to send along.

And in case you can't read the very top of the quote, I added, (Imagine this from the marshmallow's perspective!)These rice krispie treats were made with fruity pebbles. Oh. My. Sugarhigh. I'm glad I could do something to help out!

Here are each of the pillow treats closer up:

Being Silly

Sometimes we spend our Sunday afternoons being silly. Well, really, Gideon is silly and Brian and I enjoy the entertainment. Today Gideon kept using his water bottle lid for an eye patch.

And making silly noises in his water bottle. He would laugh and say, "I'm so funny!"

And trying out his swim goggles. Isn't this the cutest little nerdy face??

And Brian took this because two things in this picture don't match the rest. Can you see what they are?
